I first got wind of Krispy Kreme's 'cronuts' from MommyG. But before I could buy a bunch for the house, my thoughtful elder sister shared her box of baked Krispy Kroissants to us.
Yesterday afternoon, Jill & I had these delicious double treats. :)

For me, this version is better. It has the right amount of sweetness. The dough is soft, chewy & flaky. And the pastry cream filling won me over. :) Best eaten warm with, of course, a hot cup of coffee or tea.
